Weber Earns Historical Society Scholarship
The Grass Lake Area Historical Society has presented its fourteenth annual Alfreda Atkin Foust Memorial Scholarship to Erin Weber, Grass Lake High School class of 2012.
This scholarship, funded by a gift from Barbara Longstaff, daughter of Alfreda Foust and her husband, Dr. William Foust, long-time Grass Lake physician, is presented each year to a student who has excelled in history and/or social studies, and who has shown an ongoing interest in these disciplines.
This scholarship has been in the amount of $1000.00 for the past six years. Erin was involved in marching, symphonic, and jazz band during her four years of high school, and was a National Honor Society member for three years. She was a volunteer at the Copper Nail resale shop for three years, the Coe House Museum for one year, and she worked part-time at the Crossroads Animal Hospital for a year.
At the Coe House Museum, she assisted Marilyn O’Leary in transcribing historical information into our new database. For her academic excellence, Erin also received a scholarship from the Copper Nail, as well as a trustee scholarship from Grinnell College In Iowa, which she will attend beginning in September.
Erin has not decided on a major yet, but the Board of the Grass Lake Area Historical Society extends its best wishes to her in her future academic endeavors.
